(1923 – )

Sydney fan Bert F. Castellari attended Randwick Intermediate High School and while there struck up a friendship with William D. Veney, Ron Brennan, and Ron Lane.

All four were fans and, in 1937 while still at school, produced Spacehounds, a handwritten publication that featured fan fiction. While it only ran for ten weekly issues and a single "quarterly" issue, it attracted the attention of other fans and led to the publication of other fanzines.

Castellari was the first editor of the Futurian Observer, which he continued to edit with Ron Levy until he was called up for military service in World War II. He belonged to the Futurian Society of Sydney but resigned in 1941. He attended the First and Third Sydney Conferences in 1940 and ’42 and was the perpetrator of the Sydcon hoax.

He had pretty much gafiated by the time he went into the military, and when he returned from the War, he sold his collection.

He was known to be alive in 2020.
