Liverpool is a large city in Northwest England, situated on the River Mersey, and best known to the rest of the world as the birthplace of The Beatles. Its official demonym is Liverpudlian, but natives are also called Scousers.

Liverpool is home to the Adelphi Hotel, site of many Eastercons before its fall from favour. The Science Fiction Foundation is based at the University of Liverpool. There are several smials.

After the Third British Convention in 1939, Science-Fantasy Review #3, carried an announcement from the Liverpool branch of the SFA saying that they'd be seeking to run the next convention in 1940. This ambition was presumably curtailed by the Second World War and so despite being the fifth largest city in the UK with a long history of fan groups, Liverpool did not host an Eastercon until 1988.

Defunct clubs: Liverpool Group; Liverpool University Science Fiction, Fantasy and Film Society; Liverpool branch of the SFA; Liverpool SFL.
