Beryl Henley Mercer was active and influential in the BSFA and British fandom of the ’60s and early ’70s. She wrote some reviews for the BSFA fanzine Vector and con reports, (In the early '60s, she published an article in Point of View on new fans' gripes about the BSFA; the opposing viewpoint was written by one Archie Mercer, later to be her husband.)
She handled publications at Briscon in 1967 and was initiated as a Knight of St. Fantony in 1968 as well as winning a Doc Weir Award in 1969. She was a member of Kinkay Fandom and was on the Yarcon committee. She published DEC 27th, 1968 about the Apollo 8 mission and in 1969 the Moon-Shot Oneshot. She co-edited many other fanzines, including The Damned Patrol, The Once and Future Worm, The Middle Earthworm, Grimwab, Oz, Link (with Mary Reed), and Mercatorial Annual. She published apazine Oz for OMPA and was OE in 1969.
