Hosts Les Utopiales in Nantes, home of Jules Verne. It awards the Prix Utopiales; the Grand Prix de l'Imaginaire also comes out of France.

It hosted Eurocon 2, Eurocon 1987, Eurocon 1990, and Nemo 2018. The Convention Nationale Français de Science-Fiction has been held since 1974.

There was a Nice in 2023 Worldcon bid, which became Nice in 2026.

Before World War II, Georges Gallet was the only French stefnist known to Angloparlantian fandom. SF Club de Paris was part of the International SF Society in the late 1950s.
