A fan and pro writer, whose first activity was in his native Australia. He relocated to the United Kingdom in his twenties, and remained there for the rest of his life. He published several SF novels as well as non-fiction, much of the later relating to films.

He was a member of Ratfandom, and a flatmate of Greg Pickersgill in the early 1970s. He later lived in Harrow, in a small apartment block which also housed a number of other fans and sf writers at various times, including Chris Priest, Lisa Tuttle, Chris Evans and Colin Greenland.

He published the fanzines Why Bother?, Why Bother Abroad, Scab, Big Scab, Scabby Tales, and Son of Why Bother?
