Brynley G. Fortey was a British fan who joined the BSFA in 1966 and went to Briscon, the 1967 Eastercon. He gafiated for a time in the 1980s and ’90s and then reconnected to fandom.

F. G. Smallmount was a pseudonym of Fortey’s, used for short fiction and letters in Macrocosm, in at least one issue of Paranoid, and for a poem in The Purple Hours anthology produced for Tynecon 74, the 1974 Eastercon. Rob Hansen identifies Smallmount as Fortey in Then.

Outside of fandom, Fortey was a well-regarded amateur poet and short fiction writer.
