A series of events run by Garry Dalrymple since 2000and others in hope of building up to a series of large-scale conventions.
These include:
- Sydney Freecon 00, held April 15-16 in the Discovery area, on the second floor of the Australian Museum

- 2001 Freecon, Nov 10, at North Sydney Library.
- 2002 Museum Freecon, 16-17 March.
- 2005 Freecon-Unicon, 28-30 October.
- 2006 Sydney Freecon, 25 November.
- 2007 Sydney Freecon, 3 November. (Ghost of Honour: Kurt Vonnegut)
- 2009 Sydney Freecon, 27-29 November at the Bankstown Library.
- 2010 Sydney Freecon, 19-21 November.
- 2012 Unicon Freecon, 26-28 October at the University of Technology, Sydney.
- 2014 Sydney Freecon, 5-7 December at the OES Amenities Centre, Clemton Park, Sydney.
- 2015 Sydney Freecon, 6-8 November.
- 2016 Sydney Freecon, 19-21 December at the O.E.S. Amenities Centre.
