The 5th World Fantasy Convention was held at the Biltmore Hotel in Providence, Rhode Island in 1979. The GoHs were Stephen King and Frank Belknap Long and Michael Whelan was Guest Artist. The theme was "Reunion", Charles L. Grant was toastmaster and it was chaired by Bob Booth.

This convention was notable for having the most poorly-lit art show in most fans' memories. Several hucksters talked of buying a supply of flashlights and putting them on sale.
