Fantasy Review was a critical and news semiprozine (SFE calls it amateur magazine, as it was well printed and not cheap) published between March, 1947 and Spring, 1950 by Walter Gillings (18 issues, in odd months until #14, then quarterly) after his previous pro effort Fantasy folded. In format and content, it was similar to his pre-War (also printed) Scientifiction, declaring itself its "revival"; the department of news in brief was titled "Walter Gillings' Fantasia". For the last three issues it was renamed Science-Fantasy Review.

Gillings then became editor of the prozine Science-Fantasy, incorporating SFR into it for first two issues, Summer and Winter 1950. Next year, Gillings was replaced by Ted Carnell and gafiated for a long time (or was it in the opposite order?). His 1969 Cosmos was subtitled "Science-Fantasy Review" again, but did not last the year.

Mike Ashley described FR as a “highly professional-looking critical magazine … packed with news, reviews and information about the field.”
